KUALA LUMPUR: Students of Kolej Harun Aminrnurrashid in Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) raised RM3,812 to help victims of the monsoon floods recently.

They collected the money during their 2011 Karnival Insaniah Bestari last week.

College head Nor Azman Mohd Ramli said yesterday the majority of the money came from donations collected from the university's students.

"This is just one of the activities organised by the students as a service to the public," he said when presenting the money to Tabung Bencana New Straits Times Press-Media Prima at Balai Berita, Bangsar.

2011 Karnival Insaniah Bestari organising committee chairman Nor Isam Md Noor said this was the first time the students were donating to a disaster fund.

"By doing this, we at UPSI hope that it would help to lift some burden off the monsoon flood victims," he said.

The money was handed over to NSTP Corporate Communications executive Mohd Rizzuan Abd Razak.
